Urban Shocker was one of the top pitchers of his era, known for his consistency, durability, and ability to win big games. He pitched for the Yankees and St. Louis Browns over a career that stretched from 1916 to 1928, and he became one of the most respected right-handers in the American League.

Shocker finished his career with a 187-117 record, a 3.17 ERA, and 983 strikeouts. He won 20 games four straight seasons from 1920 to 1923 and led the American League with 27 wins in 1921.

He was also one of the last legal spitball pitchers, which makes his career even more interesting as part of baseball history.
