Cito Gaston is remembered as both a respected major league player and one of the most successful managers in Toronto Blue Jays history. As a player, he spent 11 seasons in the majors with the Padres, Braves, and Pirates, and he was known for his steady bat and professional approach to the game.
Gaston finished his playing career with a .256 batting average, 91 home runs, and 387 RBI. His best season came in 1970 with the Padres, when he hit .318 with 29 home runs and earned an All-Star selection.
